When Nick Lowe releases Indoor Safari, his first album in 11 years on September 13, it will be “POWERED BY” his long-time collaborators Los Straitjackets. He’ll hit the road with them for a fall tour starting with two nights (October 10 and 11) in New York City and ending with a pair of shows (November 2 and 3) in Minneapolis. Lowe and Los Straitjackets will play Lincoln Hall in Chicago on October 29 and 30.

The new documentary Don’t Turn Your Back On Friday Night, which examines the career and personal life of veteran indie rocker Ike Reilly, will have its premiere at Metro on Chicago’s north side this Thursday at 6:00 and 10:00 pm. As noted by staff writer Selena Fragassi in today’s Chicago Sun-Times, the Metro event will also feature a live performance by the Ike Reilly Assassination band.

The Chicago Reader’s successful Kickstarter campaign for its Free Chicago - 50 Years of the Reader ends later this week, so anyone interested in purchasing a copy of this limited-edition book will need to pledge before that deadline. It’s due out in December. The long-time Chicago free paper will stage its Third Annual UnGala fundraiser at the Contemporary Museum Of Art (220 E. Chicago Avenue) on October 3.

Whether you drop by after work on a weekday, or at your leisure on the weekend, The Northman Riverwalk offers live music and food outdoors with an impressive view of downtown Chicago. DJ CQQCHIFRUIT, formerly a Miami resident, will draw upon international influences, as well as trance music, to get patrons dancing tomorrow from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. On Friday, Americana quintet Reverie Stone will perform roots and country tunes from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and Saturday’s double bill offers Americana band Tipsy Town at 3:00 pm; and the acoustic trio Golden Fiddle at 6:00 pm. The Northman Riverwalk is located on the Chicago River at 233 N. Riverwalk.

Local indie and somewhat mysterious rockers whitewolfsonicprincess have an outdoor show this Sunday at La Principal (outside the Custer Street Oasis) from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. The exact address is 700 Main Street in Evanston.
