Lollapalooza kicks off this Thursday and will run through Sunday at Grant Park in downtown Chicago. The lineup includes Lorde; The Smashing Pumpkins; Sombr; Wet Leg; Suki Waterhouse; and Wolf Alice. There will also be Lollapalooza After Shows, including Wednesday night performances by The Smashing Pumpkins at The Riviera Theatre; and Wet Leg at The Vic.

Tomorrow night’s Evanston SPACE double bill of Chicago indie rockers The Handcuffs and self-described 21st century druid practitioners whitewolfsonicprincess is almost sold out. The acoustic duo Scott & Odie will open at 6:15 pm. In a recent Facebook post, The Handcuffs promise to have their new t-shirts on sale as well as all of their records. A Facebook post from recording artists whitewolfsonicprincess states they’ll “be grooving our story songs about light and shadow and prayers to the natural world and the interconnectedness of all things.”

Alison Hinderliter is a longtime member of The Handcuffs, and she also performs with the classical trio Ghost Voice with Jeffrey Parker and Tom McGettrick. They have an album coming out soon, along with some live shows in town to promote it. Ghost Voice will perform at The Check Out on September 2, and The Hideout on November 13. 

John Cowsill and Vicki Peterson have a month-long, six-date tour that kicks off this Friday in Mahomet, IL and wraps on August 30 with a show at The Rhode Island Folk Festival in Riverside, RI.  Cowsill and Peterson will likely showcase songs from their Long After The Fire album, as well as material from The Bangles and The Cowsills.

Chicago-based musicians Phil Angotti and Friends will be backed by a string section during their Beatles tribute brunch at FitzGerald’s in Berwyn, IL this Sunday. The music starts at noon. These guys are masters at covering The Beatles, and a string section will make things even better.

Marshall Crenshaw’s Fall 2026 Tour, with special guests Sarah Borges with Eric Ambel, will start October 27 in Toronto, ON and continue through November 23 with a concert in New York, NY. The tour will bring Crenshaw to The Old Town School Of Folk Music in Chicago on Halloween night.

Clinard Dance, based in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, will present a Flamenco Quartet Project at Evanston SPACE in Evanston, IL on August 10.

Temp Wishes, a new band led by the perpetually busy Josh Chicoine of The M’s, will open for veteran guitarist Cory Hanson at The Hideout in Chicago this Sunday. Chicoine, along with fellow Temp Wishes members Edward Anderson; Colby Starck; and Glenn Rischke, recently recorded a single titled “Flash Fantasy.”
