Incoming

The Rolling Stones announced their 2024 Hackney Diamonds North America Tour today, and it includes a stop in Chicago on June 27 at Soldier Field. The presale takes place on the morning of November 30. General sales start the next day. Other cities on the tour, which kicks off in April,  include Houston, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Cleveland, and Los Angeles.

The Chicago-based Nicholas Tremulis And The Prodigals will perform tomorrow night at SPACE in Evanston.

Congratulations to The BoDeans on selling out their Friday and Saturday night concerts at Chicago City Winery. According to a post on the band’s Facebook page, there are limited tickets left for their Sunday night gig there.

Tickets are now on sale for the 2024 Joey’s Song Benefit Concert being held at The Sylvee venue in Madison, Wisconsin on January 6. This year’s format involves a Battle Of The Bands pitting The Know-It-All Boyfriends against The Know-It-All Girlfriends. Participating musicians include Butch Vig and Duke Erikson from Garbage (and, as any rock-savvy Wisconsin fan knows, Spooner), Chris Collingwood from Fountains Of Wayne and Freedy Johnson for the boys; and Gail Greenwood from Belly, Debbi and Vicki Peterson from The Bangles, and Linda Pitmon from The Minus Five for the girls. Joey’s Song is a charity devoted to raising money for epilepsy research and to provide services for children with special needs.

Noted blues singer-guitarist Ronnie Baker Brooks will perform at City Winery Chicago on November 22.

The Music For Mars multi-artist event scheduled for this Saturday at Metro in Chicago has changed from a benefit to a tribute, following the sad news that musician Mars Williams passed away yesterday. Williams, a saxophone player widely respected for his jazz and rock music work, had been battling cancer. His Chicago-based jazz group Liquid Soul will perform on Sunday, along with The Joe Marcinek Band and DJ Jesse De La Pena, along with special guests Jeff Coffin from The Dave Matthews Band and recording artist Ike Reilly. Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 on the day of the event, and there’s a $150 table for two option.

If you still have a copy of this past Sunday’s Chicago Tribune, check out writer Hannah Edgar’s extensive and informative piece on Mars Williams.
