It’s great to hear that tickets are now sold out for the Celebrate The Life Of Kim Shattuck – Create A World Without ALS benefit concert taking place at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on March 15. Ronnie Barnett and Roy McDonald will host the event, with performances by Veruca Salt; The Coolies; Redd Kross; The Pandoras; Kathy Valentine from The Go-Go’s; Vicki Peterson from The Bangles; Kay Hanley; That Dog And Friends; Honeychain and Rob Zabrecky. Shattuck, who passed away last year due to complications from ALS, was a founding member of The Muffs, and more recently The Coolies. She also performed with The Pixies and The Pandoras. The show is a benefit for the ALS Association Golden West Chapter.

FitzGerald’s is staging two concert events to celebrate International Women’s Day this Saturday, March 7. Cathy Richardson’s Goddesses Of Rock tribute is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., with Katie Todd as the opening act. In addition to leading her own long-time band, Richardson is also known for her portrayal of Janis Joplin in the Love, Janis off broadway production, and serving as the lead vocalist for Jefferson Starship. There will also be a show in FitzGerald’s Sidebar, featuring Sandra Antongiorgi; Naomi Ashley; and Cathie Van Wert.

Sharon Van Etten; Fiery Furnaces, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs; Angel Olsen; Run The Jewels; Twin Peaks; and Cat Power are among the acts scheduled for Pitchfork 2020, which returns to Union Park in Chicago on the weekend of July 17 – 19. Tickets are now on sale.

Martyrs’ on Lincoln Avenue with be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day early on Saturday, March 14 with the U2 tribute band Without U2 and the Thin Lizzy tribute band Tin Lynott. A week later at that same venue, another double bill of tribute bands will lean more toward angst-ridden British alt rock. Primary will be playing songs by The Cure, and Stil IL, will be covering The Smiths.
