Incoming

Three new dates have been added to the United States leg of the Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy Celebrate The 40th Anniversary Of R.E.M.’s Lifes Rich Pageant tour. The first new gig is at Codfish Hollow Barnstormers, which sounds like a great name for a band but is actually a venue in Maquoketa IA. Next up is The Riviera Theatre on September 25 in Chicago; and finally, The Majestic in Detroit, MI on September 25. As with their other recent tours, Shannon and Narducy will be joined by Dag Juhlin, John Stirratt, Vijay Tellis Nayak and Jon Wurster.

Phil Angotti, one of Chicago’s better-known club acts, will perform a solo show focusing on the Brian Jones Era/Early Rolling Stones Music tomorrow night at Montrose Saloon.

As noted in an AP article in today’s Chicago Sun-Times, Green Day will be the major act when the NFL stages Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on February 8.

This coming Saturday, acclaimed jazz pianist Tony Richards will join forces with jazz bassist Joe Policastro at Imperial Oak Brewing for their annual Speakeasy Shuffle Event.

Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams’ new album World’s Gone Wrong is due out this Friday. The single “We’ve Come Too Far To Turn Around,” featuring Norah Jones, has been available for a while now.

You can start putting money aside for those one-of-kind, one-day-only vinyl treasures now that the date of this year’s Record Store Day has been officially announced as April 18.

Two of the Chicago area’s better-known bandleaders will share the stage when the Songs And Stories With Nicholas Tremulis and Frank Orrall After Dark event takes place at the Art Makers Outpost in Evanston this Sunday. Week four of Buddy Guy’s 16-date January residency at his Legends venue kicks off this Thursday with Katie Kaden and Stacy Brooks as his special guests. Guy will also have guests for his Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night gigs, and he’ll be back next week with two shows to wrap up his January residency. The Chicago-based power trio Triple will perform with The Feds and Second City Seance at Liar’s Club this Sunday. Liar’s is located at 1665 W. Fullerton on Chicago’s north side.

Chicago radio personality Tom Marker recently retired, wrapping up a half-century career that included building loyal followings at WXRT and WDCB. He was a rock and roll DJ for much of that time, but his real love seems to be for the blues. With that in mind, WDCB will stage a Tom Marker 75th Birthday Blues Review at FitzGerald’s in Berwyn, IL this Friday. The Dave Specter Band will perform, with many other blues musicians expected to join in the celebration.
