Lauren Mayberry, lead vocalist for the Scottish techno rock trio Chvrches, has embarked on an extensive U.S. solo tour that will bring her to Thalia Hall in Chicago tomorrow night. Her debut album Vicious Creature has been racking up favorable reviews since being released this past December. The music starts at 8:00 pm, with Cult Of Venus as the opening act. Thalia Hall is located at 1807 S. Allport St.

Congratulations to The Flat Five, who bill themselves as Chicago's twisted sunshine pop super-group, on their sold-out show tomorrow night at Hideout Inn. Their special guest will be Chicago rock scene veteran Paul Cebar. The music starts at 7:30; Hideout Inn is located at 1354 W. Wabansia Avenue on the city’s north side.


Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10:00 am for The Pretenders’ show on May 1 at the Wynn Theater in Las Vegas.


Autographed copies of Mike Campbell’s Heartbreaker memoir are now available for pre-order from the talkshoplive and Premiere Collectibles websites. Campbell was a founding member of Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers.


Bandcamp has partnered with artist-designer Shepard Fairey to offer a very cool limited edition t-shirt that will raise funds to help the MusiCares organization assist victims of the Southern California wild fires.

 

PureSoul will present Bob Marley’s 80th Birthday Celebration at City Winery Chicago at 7:30 this Thursday night. The event will celebrate the memory of the legendary Jamaican musician by “pairing PureSoul musicians with some of the greatest reggae masters in Chicago.”


This year’s Chicago Theatre Week event starts this Thursday and will run through February 16. Several of the city’s best-known venues will offer discount prices on comedies, dramas, musicals, improv, and concerts. Participants include Goodman Theatre; A Red Orchid Theatre; Lookingglass Theatre; Chicago Shakespeare Company; and Steppenwolf Theatre.
