This year’s New Orleans Jazz And Heritage Festival will take place from April 24 through May 4, with well-known acts from several genres taking part. If you live in America, chances are you know someone who has made a pilgrimage to New Orleans. I can think of a few friends, and at least one WXRT radio personality has attended Jazz And Heritage Festivals in the past.
This year’s lineup includes Pearl Jam; Lenny Kravitz; Kacey Musgraves; Santana; John Fogerty; HAIM; Cage The Elephant; Patti LaBelle; Gladys Knight; Joan Jett and The Blackhearts; Cheap Trick; Diana Krall; Branford Marsalis; The Wailers featuring Julian Marley; Taj Mahal And The Phantom Blues Band; Stanley Clarke; Rickie Lee Jones; Shemekia Copeland; and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band. That’s a lot of good music to go with your spicy food.
Back to news around these parts, the five-day indie music festival Tomorrow Never Knows is back for its 20th year. Performances began tonight and will run through Sunday at GMan Tavern; Hideout; Color Club; Schubas; Sleeping Village; Lincoln Hall; Metro; and Judson And Moore.
Pre-sale tickets are now available for a show by the David Bowie tribute band Sons Of The Silent Age at SPACE in Evanston, IL on March 14. They’re likely to go fast.
You’ll have a chance to kiss the sky on Lincoln Avenue when Tributosaurus Becomes Jimi Hendrix at the Martyrs’ venue on January 25. Tributosaurus has built a loyal following around Chicago via its tributes to famous music acts. Martyrs’ is located at 3855 N. Lincoln Avenue.
Chicago’s self-described “twisted sunshine pop supergroup,” AKA The Flat Five, will begin a consecutive three-week Wednesday night residence at Hideout Inn on January 22. Hideout Inn is located at 1354 W. Wabansia on the city’s north side.
