Love your sweetheart, love The Beatles. Phil Angotti and Friends (John San Juan, Carolyn Engelmann, Tom Ryan and Blair Holmes) will perform Beatles Love Songs tomorrow night at SPACE in Evanston. Your Valentine will be very impressed with your taste in live music.

Lush vocalist-guitarist Miki Berenyi announced on her official Facebook page today that her book Fingers Crossed - How Music Saved Me From Success will soon be available in America and Canada. The Miki Berenyi Trio, which includes Siouxsie And The Banshees members Lol Tolhurst and Budgie (Tolhurst was also a member of The Cure) will perform on June 7 at Bottom Lounge in Chicago.

Girl From The North Country, playwright Conor McPherson’s musical built around 20 songs by Bob Dylan, opened tonight at the CIBC Theatre in downtown Chicago, and will run through February 25.

Paramore, the alt rock Tennessee band led by Hayley Williams, has been selected as this year’s Record Store Day Ambassador. The big day for vinyl collectors arrives this year on April 20, and the limited editions will include a special eye-popping colored vinyl version of the new Pearl Jam album Dark Matter. The regular version of Dark Matter comes out on CD, Deluxe CD, BluRay and black vinyl on April 19. The full list of all this year’s RSD releases has not been revealed yet.

 

10,000 Maniacs, with lead vocalist and violinist Mary Ramsey back onboard, have shows coming up at City Winery Chicago this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The Kooks have an upcoming 16-city tour that will bring them to America for the first time in quite a while. It kicks off in Atlanta on February 29, and includes a stop at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago on March 15. The shows will celebrate the 15th anniversary of The Kooks’ debut release Inside In Inside Out, and the band will perform the entire album.

The Rock and Roll Playhouse’s show Plays Music Of David Bowie and More For Kids is coming to SPACE in Evanston this Sunday, February 18. The music starts at 2:00 pm.

The Jazz Institute Of Chicago will present the Chicago Winter Jazz Fair 2024 on February 23 from 11:30 am to 10:00 pm at Chicago Cultural Center at 78 E. Washington Street. The event will feature live performances, lectures, and numerous vendors. Performances include Marques Carroll’s Trumpet Summit; Windy City Jazz Electric; Bethany Pickens Soulful Coalition; and Darwin Noguera. Admission is free.
