Recently, Thursday posts have focused on events that were previously mentioned on Broken Hearted Toy, and are taking place during the upcoming weekend. Plus, the occasional event taking place this weekend that has just come to my attention.

They’ll be at the Cahn Auditorium in Evanston on Saturday for a special concert to benefit the James B. Moran Center For Youth Advocacy. On Sunday, Los Lobos will perform at the Dakota venue in Minneapolis, MN. Other upcoming dates can be found on the band’s official website.

NRBQ continues its east coast tour tonight with a gig at the Infinity Music Hall in Norfolk, CT. Tomorrow night will find the band performing at the Narrows Center For The Arts in Fall River, MA; and on Saturday, NRBQ will rock The Bull Run Restaurant in Shirley, MA.

The Chicago-based power trio Triple will share the bill with Code Noir and Gremlin at Liar’s Club (1665 W. Fullerton) this Saturday night. Triple will likely showcase songs from its recently released three-track EP titled 3.

Social Act, a Chicago band that began releasing albums back in the mid-1980s, will showcase their catchy new holiday single “XMAS” tomorrow night at The Liar’s Club on Chicago’s north side. The song is steaming on Spotify and will be released on vinyl in 2025. Tomorrow’s show starts at 7:30 PM, and personnel from WZRD Radio will be on hand, celebrating the station’s 50th anniversary.

There will be a triple bill of Van Go, The Second Summer, and Dam Destroyers (featuring members from The Red Wigglers) this Saturday at The Gallery on December 14. Admission is free. All three acts are veterans of  International Pop Overthrow - Chicago.

Chicago: Home Of House, an exhibit honoring the city’s pivotal role in the widespread success of house music, will wrap up its extended run at Navy Pier this Sunday. Admission is free.
