Wolf Alice back in the day.

As someone who’s enjoyed the three full-length albums by Wolf Alice, I was intrigued to discover the English alt rock band will be reissuing an EP that preceded those releases. Creature Songs is coming out as a special 10th anniversary ten-inch, pink and blue vinyl edition on June 21. One of the tracks, “Moaning Lisa Smile,” also appeared on the Wolf Alice debut album My Life Is Cool. The new Creature Songs EP is available to order on the band’s official online store.

Rhino Fest will wrap up the May portion of its 2024 run with performances tonight, Thursday, and Friday. June opens with a full slate of shows on Saturday, and the action continues through the end of the month. Several performances will be at Facility Theatre and Chicago Dramatists, but check out the official Rhino Fest website for the full schedule.

Chicago-based independent filmmaker Michael Smith’s movie Relative, which made the independent film festivals circuit, is now available to stream on Amazon Prime, Apple Plus, Vudu, Google Play and YouTube.

Thalia Hall in Chicago will be the first stop on Ladytron’s 2024 US tour when the Liverpool electronic pop band performs tomorrow night. Now a trio comprising Helen Marnie, Daniel Hunt, and Mira Aroyo, Ladytron will likely showcase songs from its late 2023 album Time’s Arrow. DJ Hiroko Yamamura will serve as opening act.

Congratulations to Simon’s Tavern on reaching its 90th year in the Andersonville neighborhood on Chicago’s north side. The Western Elstons, a band featuring veterans of the city’s music scene, will perform live this Thursday night to help the venue celebrate.
