SXSW starts this Friday in Austin, TX and will run through March 16. The annual festival celebrates creativity in all its numerous forms, and from various countries. This year’s schedule offers music acts including The Black Keys, STRFKR, Blondshell, and Thee Sacred Souls; as well as film and TV screenings, and comedy shows.
The Chicago venue Hideout Inn will hold its Annual SXSW Send-Off via an all day party this Saturday. The event will feature performances by Reilly Downes, Waco Brothers, Smushie, Astrachan, Cabeza De Chivo and Samuel Aaron. Doors open at 2:00 pm and the music starts an hour later.
Cosmic Bull, a Chicago band whose members have loads of experience on the local scene, will hold the release party for their debut full-length album Band Substances at the witching hour of 12:00 am on Friday March 8 at Gallery Cabaret. The first single from the album is “Once the Dust Settles.”
There will be some Strange Magic going on at Theater On The Lake this Saturday when Tributosaurus Becomes ELO. The show begins at 8:00 pm. Tributosaurus always puts a lot of effort into their shows, so this is guaranteed to be quite an event. The venue is located at 2401 N. Lake Shore Drive in Chicago.
Joe Shanahan has booked a number of famous music acts at his venue Metro, but he’s also pretty handy at spinning records. You can catch him in action this Saturday at the All Vinyl 45 Party taking place at the nearby GMan Tavern from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. A Facebook post promises Punk/Funk/Soul And A Splash Of Disco. GMan Tavern is in Wrigleyville at 3740 N. Clark.
Phil Angotti And Friends (Casey McDonough, Marc Edelstein and Jason Batchko) will perform their favorite tunes by Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley at City Winery Chicago this Sunday at noon.
