Incoming


Following quickly on the heels of Roddy Bogawa and Storm Thorgerson’s Syd Barrett documentary Have You Got It Yet?, filmmaker Ethan Silverman has released the Marc Bolan documentary Angelheaded Hipster. Across the pond in England, there’s a nationwide preview coming tomorrow that will feature commentary from Silverman, producer Bill Curbishley, and Marc’s son Rolan Bolan. DIY Magazine features editor Lisa Wright will serve as host.

 

The film includes clips of Marc Bolan performing and interviews with him, as well as interviews with Elton John and Ringo Starr. Silverman also filmed musical interpretations by Nick Cave, Joan Jett, Macy Gray, U2, Lucinda Williams, and other music acts. It’s not clear when or if Angelheaded Hipster will be released in America.


Some that you’ve heard about and really dug all their songs. Congratulations to The Kinks on being inducted into The Music Walk Of Fame on Camden High Street in Camden, London last Friday. Mick Avory, who was the band’s drummer, had the honor of unveiling the commemorative stone.

 

Also, a pat on the back for The Spindles for reaching the 750,000 streams mark on their Spotify page. The Chicago-based power pop band continues its string of local performances with a gig at Montrose Saloon on November 11.


The 30th Chicago Underground Film Festival opened today and will run through Sunday. Screenings will be held at The Gene Siskel Film Center in downtown Chicago and The Harper Theater, at 5238 S. Harper.


The Lemonheads will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their Come On Feel The Lemonheads album with a concert this Friday at The House Of Blues in Boston. Juliana Hatfield, who helped out on several tracks during the recording, John P. Strohm, who founded The Blake Babies with Hatfield, and singer-songwriter Willy Mason, and will also be on hand to mark the occasion.


The 38th Annual Riverwalk Fine Art Fair takes place from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, at 171 Jackson Avenue in downtown Naperville, IL. The event will also feature food vendors and live music.


Congratulations to L7 on already selling out four of the eight dates of their December Australia and New Zealand.
