Dann Morr - Shouting Into The Wind

Singer/multi-instrumantalist Dann Morr has been around the Chicago music scene for some time now, having performed in the indie rock bands Wells-next-the-Sea and Mooner, as well as with Kevin Lee, Phil Angotti, and Tom Daily. He takes center stage (backed by five musicians) on Shouting Into The Wind, an impressive solo debut filled with well-crafted, melodic rock music. Morr’s 10 original songs, some co-written with Jaime Vazquez, delve into complicated personal experiences.

On “Drive Around,” an energetic song fueled by guitar and organ playing, Morr nails the awkward emotions of a couple saying goodbye at the end of their long-term relationship. “I Remember You,” set to a twangy Country and Western arrangement, depicts a guy returning to his hometown for the first since a friend has passed away. On the brighter side, the peppy “Sounds Of Summer” celebrates romance along with the season. Morr succeeds with a variety of approaches on Shouting Into The Wind; from the more hard rock-oriented “The Right Way” to the fun and jazzy “The Ghost Of Your Voice.”
